Alvar Aalto Bench 153A in White for Artek

Alvar Aalto designed Bench 153A for Artek in 1945 as part of his celebrated L-leg furniture family. This Finnish-made example is constructed from birch and has been repainted in a clean white finish.The design combines a long open slatted top with Aalto’s bentwood leg construction. Its simple structure and generous 112.5 cm width give the bench a clear architectural presence while keeping the overall form visually light.Solid birch is used for both the slatted top and the curved L-legs. The versatile proportions allow the piece to serve as seating in a hallway or bedroom, a low display surface or an occasional table in a living space.The bench is sturdy and in neat vintage condition. The later white-painted finish shows minor wear and normal signs of use consistent with age. Please review all images for details.
