Antique Swiss 8-Air Cylinder Music Box with Three Bells c.1890
A late Victorian Swiss cylinder music box, likely c.1880–1900, in a wooden case with a glazed inner dust cover (now cracked). The mechanism is a pinned brass cylinder and steel comb, three exposed bells and crank-wind action; the original decorative "Timbres – 8 airs" tune sheet is fixed to the underside of the lid.Dimensions Width: 42 cm Depth: 27 cm Height: 21 cm ConditionStructurally the wood case is sound but shows marks and scratches consistent with age. The inner glass dust cover is cracked and the beading is disintegrating; this glass and beading will be removed and disposed of prior to shipping. There is no winding key. The movement plays and sounds well but occasionally needs a little help to start and to stop; the pinned cylinder, steel comb and three bells are present and in situ. Expect typical age-related wear to the finish and some small knocks to the case.Delivery InformationPlease note that all of our deliveries are carried out by a one-man delivery service.
