A wonderful piece of Canadiana - original York University dining hall restaurant ware from the 1960s era. Heavy-duty white ironstone cup and saucer with burgundy pinstripe and the York University coat of arms - two lions above a white rose, topped with maple leaf crest and motto TENTANDA VIA ("The way must be tried"). This is true cafeteria / hotelware, made in England for university food service - by Grindley Hotelware Co. England - built to last with a thick, chunky diner mug profile and scalloped saucer. Perfect for the York alum or anyone who loves institutional crest china.
