Tuesdays: 6:00-7:30pm Fall Session 1: Sept. 15-Oct. 27 Instructor: Samuel Fee: $190 Paper Marbling (Adults) Paint on water. Pull one-of-a-kind prints. Discover the centuries-old art of paper marbling and create beautifully patterned papers unlike anything you can make with a brush. In this 7-week class, you'll learn how paint floats on the surface of water, how traditional marbling patterns are created, and how to transform your designs into functional works of art. Each week you'll build new skills while experimenting with color, pattern, and movement. You'll explore classic marbling techniques, develop your own unique style, and create papers that can be used for stationery, bookbinding, gift wrapping, framed artwork, and more. No two prints are ever exactly alike, making every class a chance to experiment and be surprised by the results. No experience is necessary. All materials are provided. During this class you'll explore: Preparing the marbling bath and paints Traditional marbling patterns and combing techniques Color mixing and color theory Creating decorative papers and stationery Marbling on a variety of paper surfaces Designing finished projects including cards, bookmarks, gift wrap, and book covers Creating a final piece suitable for framing or incorporating into a handmade journal Duration: 7 weeks Class Length: 90 minutes Dates: Tuesdays, September 15 – October 27 Materials: All materials included.
