Grade 3 Band - AIBF Edmonton

20 Minute performance time and 20 Minute associated clinic session (maximum time including transition from performance to clinic of 45 minutes). Grade 3 (Medium) Description: Suitable for advanced middle school bands or average high school bands. Music at this level includes more complex rhythms, key changes, and requires good breath control and tone production. There is more independence required in each section. Typical Characteristics: Complex rhythms, including triplets and syncopation, greater use of accidentals, key changes, and more developed melodic lines. Grade 3.5 (Medium Advanced) Description: A step up from Grade 3, this level requires more technical proficiency and maturity in musicianship. Suitable for strong high school bands. The music may include more challenging harmonies, frequent changes in time signatures, and intricate rhythms. Typical Characteristics: Complex rhythms and harmonies, more demanding phrasing and dynamics, and increased independence among parts. Minimum Performance Grade 3 Level
