The Brickstone
The Brickstone 1400W electric fireplace insert. 26 inches wide with distinctive red brick interior walls. 4,777 BTU. 400 sq ft coverage. Realistic amber log-flame effect with 3 brightness levels. Remote + touch panel. Drops into an existing wider masonry fireplace opening, TV console cutout, or cabinet opening — or sits freestanding on a hearth stone. Under 50 dB blower. CSA certified. We'll say it before you do Every 1500W-class electric fireplace on the market makes essentially the same heat. Ours, the one at the big-box store, the one your neighbor bought online — watts in equals BTU out. Anyone telling you their fireplace is "more efficient" is selling you a story. What actually differs about The Brickstone is the look. Decorative red brick walls flank the flame area on both sides — so instead of a black-interior insert dropped into a brick surround, you get a red-brick-interior insert that visually reads as part of a masonry fireplace. From 8 feet away, the flames-against-brick backing is what people notice. And where it fits. This is not a wall-mount modern panel like the Crystal Panel line. This is an insert. It drops into the wider rectangular opening you already have — the masonry fireplace surround that has sat sealed and empty since the last chimney inspection, the large TV console with the factory-made fireplace cutout you never bought the insert for, the built-in cabinet with a fireplace-shaped hole your carpenter left for you. Or it sits freestanding on a flat hearth stone with nothing holding it down but its own 20.5 lbs. No wall-mount bracket. No drywall to cut. No contractor. What Actually Differs 26 inches wide, 18 inches tall, 8 inches deep. Sized to drop into wider rectangular openings that already exist in a lot of homes: original 1950s-1980s masonry fireplace surrounds, factory-cut TV console cutouts sized for a wider insert, modular cabinet openings. Measure your existing opening. If it's at least 27" wide, 18" tall, and 8" deep, this fits. Mounting flanges on the corners let you screw it into a wooden surround if you want it locked in — otherwise gravity holds it in place. Distinctive red brick interior walls. Decorative red brick panels on both sides of the flame area. This is the defining feature — most electric inserts in this class have a plain black interior. Ours reflects the amber flame light back off the brick, so the flame reads more convincingly against the warm brick backing at normal viewing distance. Realistic amber log-flame effect. Molded resin log bed with LED backlighting behind tempered glass. 3 flame brightness levels (low, medium, high). This is the traditional log-fire look, not the modern crystal-ember look of the Crystal Panel line. At normal viewing distance in evening light, the flames read as convincing. It is still an LED effect — no wood, no smoke, no smell. 1400W. 4,777 BTU. 400 sq ft coverage. Same effective heating power as most 1500W-class competitors. Rated to warm a well-insulated 400 sq ft room to comfortable temperature. In a drafty 800 sq ft great room, the Brickstone will feel warmer near it but the far corners will still need your regular heat. Under 50 dB blower. Quiet operation — about the sound level of a dishwasher running across the room. Quiet enough to hear the TV over without turning it up. Noise level is a spec most fireplace listings hide because most inserts in this class are louder than they let on. Remote + touch panel. That's it. Handheld remote for the couch. Touch buttons on the top strip for flame, power, timer, and thermostat. Adjustable thermostat 62°F–82°F. 0.5–6 hour timer in half-hour increments. No phone app. No WiFi setup. No Alexa configuration. No cloud account. If you have felt like every appliance in your house has become a Bluetooth-pairing exercise, that absence is the point. Overheat shutoff. Cool-touch tempered glass. CSA certified. Element cycles down automatically if the housing overheats. Tempered glass front stays cool to touch. Iron and steel housing. Front-strip vent moves warm air out the top so nothing hot faces the room. Full CSA certification. Perfect For An existing wider masonry fireplace surround that has been sealed off and sitting empty (any opening at least 27" × 18" × 8"). A large TV media console with a factory-made rectangular fireplace-insert cutout in the middle. A built-in cabinet or bookshelf with a wider opening around the right size. Freestanding on a flat hearth stone, raised stone platform, or slate ledge. A small-to-medium room, home office, guest bedroom, or cabin — anywhere 300–400 sq ft with an outlet nearby. Rental apartments where you can't modify the wall but there's an existing wider decorative fireplace opening. Anyone who wants the look of red-brick masonry framing the flames without doing actual brickwork. People who want a fireplace without an app, cloud account, or WiFi setup. There is no wall-mount bracket in the box. If you have a bare wall and want a modern flat panel hanging on it, this is not the right product — look at The Crystal Panel line instead. This is an insert designed to drop into an existing rectangular opening. It is not warmer than a competitor's 1500W insert. Same class of heater core. If you need to warm a larger room, this doesn't do that — a single 1400W unit warms a well-insulated 300–400 sq ft room, no more. For a bigger room you need central heat or a second unit. It is not smart-home compatible. No app. No WiFi. No Alexa integration. No IFTTT triggers. Remote and top-panel touch buttons only. If you want to say "Alexa, turn on the fireplace," this doesn't do that — look at The Crystal Panel line. It is not a real fire. The molded log bed, amber flame effect, and red brick side walls look convincing at normal viewing distance in evening light, but it is an LED-lit visual effect with decorative resin brick panels. No wood, no smoke, no crackling, no chimney draw. It should not be left running unattended in heat mode. The overheat shutoff and 0.5–6 hour timer exist because unattended space-heater use is how house fires happen. Use the timer. Never leave heat mode on when you leave the house or go to sleep. Flame-only mode (no heat, ~12W draw) is safe to leave overnight. It draws roughly 12A at 1400W. Plug directly into a wall outlet on its own circuit, not a power strip or extension cord. If the outlet is on a shared circuit with a microwave or window AC, you'll trip the breaker. It does not fit every opening. Measure yours: 27" wide × 18" tall × 8" deep minimum. A too-small opening will not accommodate this. If your opening is narrower, look at The Firebox at 18" wide instead. Check before ordering.
