Indonesia, Melon Beads, Matte Light Blue/TQ, 10mm Diameter on 24-inch Strands

Indonesian light blue turquoise melon beads 10x10mm slightly antiqued on 24-inch strands This is a popular size and color and for some the matte finish is an advantage. The melon bead has been a much imitated design over the centuries in many parts of the world. This Indonesian version is just the latest of many. Blue Melon beads have been found in many parts of the former Roman empire although they tended to be darker. The name "Pompeii" has been pinned onto these beads by some. These beads are slightly "antiqued", I'm not sure by what means, but most likely a brown hair dye, because it doesn't seem to wash off. The holes vary in size, some big enough for 2mm leather, mny others not.
