L’Hirondelle - Sterling Silver Bird Necklace Ephemera No. 02

Ephemera is an ongoing series of wearable fragments translated from antique paper into metal. These first birds began with an antique French advertising image found in the public domain. I engraved the little swallow into recycled sterling silver, and made it two ways because choosing only one was clearly not going to happen. This version frames the engraved swallow inside an oxidized sterling silver oval. Each necklace includes the buyer’s choice of one of the available 18-inch, 20-inch or 22-inch 316L stainless steel chains. Only three oval sterling silver birds were made for this first small flight.
