Lecturer: Lucy Turnbull Sat 15 – Sat 29 Aug (3 full days) 9.30am –4.30pm Level – Beginners to Advanced Age – 16+ This is an adult class and is not suitable for students under 16 years of age. Students under 18, must obtain parental or guardian consent and submit a completed consent form before the class commences. This course invites participants to explore drawing as a powerful tool for constructing and reimagining space. Through guided observational drawing exercises, students will focus on key elements such as line, shape, tone, and spatial relationships. Over three sessions, subject matter progresses from still life (Week 1), to the figure in space (Week 2), to interiors and landscapes (Week 3), alongside discussion of modern and contemporary artworks. The course offers a structured and encouraging environment for students of all experience levels. Materials required: Sketchbook (any scale) A1 sheets of paper – 2x CA Grain/Dessin, 5x cartridge, 10x newsprint (or A2 pad) Graphite pencils Willow charcoal Student quality black and white acrylic paint (200ml) Black ink Brushes for acrylic and ink Plastic containers for palette, water, ink wash White eraser Masking tape Glue of choice Scissors Red and blue coloured pencils, more colours if you have them *All materials required for the first class. Lucy Turnbull is a lecturer at Adelaide Central School of Art. She was awarded a Masters of Fine Art at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture (2018). Lucy is interested in drawing and painting from observation to record her experience of place and connection to home.
