set of 2 artworks 60x90cm each, This series gets me thinking on the places that sneak up behind us and shape us in ways we might not even notice and the journeys that somehow bring us back to our true selves. It all started with the coastline at Coogee Beach, where I've called home for a while now & spent a gazzillion hours wandering, reflecting, and putting my life back together again. Each work takes the sweeping forms of the coast and mingles them with flowing lines that map out the twists & turns of life - the memories, the connections, all the things that guide us through. I collected sand from the beach at Coogee and embedded it into the works - it's like a tangible piece of the place I've spent so much time in, but it also carries the deepest sense of home for me. I added gold leaf pathways as a way of symbolising life's journey, and the sheer fact that we dont always know where we're going, but that the journey itself is where growth and learning happen. The lines that look like contours are my way of illustrating the ups & downs we all go through, the ebb & flow of life. These works dont try to pin down a single moment in time, but rather explore the long, slow process of finding your place in the world - not some destination that you end up at, but something that's shaped over the years by all the ups & downs, and the people you meet along the way.
