Anubias Petite Snow White Vitro Culture
Cream-white marbling on leaves under an inch across. Anubias sp. 'Petite Snow White' is one of the most heavily variegated Anubias in the hobby — and, for exactly that reason, one of the least forgiving. This is the sterile tissue-culture format. What You'll Receive One (1) Vitro Culture® 4-inch bag of Anubias sp. 'Petite Snow White' Yield: Approximately 3–4 small young plants, ready to plant or attach to hardscape Plant Profile Common name — Petite Snow White Anubias Scientific name — Anubias sp. 'Petite Snow White' Origin — Cultivated hybrid; the genus is native to West and Central Africa Placement — Midground, attached to hardscape Mature height — 2-4 inches Growth rate — Very slow Care Difficulty — Advanced Light — Low to medium. Excess light burns the pale tissue and feeds algae — the single most common way this plant is lost. CO₂ — Not required. Improves vigour under otherwise stable conditions. Water — 72-82°F, pH 6.0-7.5. Stability matters more than any particular value. Substrate — Not required. Epiphyte; attaches to wood or stone. Growth habit — Amphibious; also grows emersed Propagation — Rhizome division, once well established Grower's Notes Cream-white tissue carries no chlorophyll, which is what makes this Advanced. The more white a leaf holds, the less energy the plant produces — so it grows very slowly, recovers badly from damage, and cannot outgrow algae on the pale areas. Anubias is famously indestructible; this cultivar is the exception that proves it. It can revert. Heavily variegated Anubias sometimes starts pushing plain green leaves. Remove fully green shoots promptly — green tissue photosynthesises better and will gradually take the plant over if left. Never bury the rhizome. Tie or glue it to wood or stone and leave it exposed; buried rhizomes rot, and this plant will not grow back from that quickly. Rinse the gel off gently with aquarium or dechlorinated water — not tap — and separate the plantlets before attaching. The sterile format matters more here than on a hardy plant: an algae outbreak arriving with the plant is very hard to clear from white leaves that grow this slowly. Want to go deeper?
