Relic by Yoté is a hybrid editorial publication exploring adornment, symbolism, folklore, cultural history, and the stories we carry through essays, poetry, visual storytelling, and fashion editorials. Created as an extension of Yoté's philosophy of Tangible Folklore, Relic blends art with education through deep dives into the folklore, symbolism, materials, and cultural histories that inspire the work of Yoté. Each volume serves as both a visual editorial and a cultural artifact, preserving stories, ideas, and influences that deserve to be remembered, explored, and carried forward. Written and created by our founder, Leah Prada, in collaboration with Sasha Senutovich Ewing (photography), Zea Zinnia (model), and Shenice Davis (hair), Volume I: Unveiled is the inaugural volume of Yoté's editorial publication, centering on the hidden history of the women who inspired the brand's namesake. Through original essays, poetry, historical research, and editorial photography, it explores the legacy of Genízaro identity with a particular focus on Genízara women and the the enduring themes of identity, ancestry, and belonging. Part history and part memorial, Unveiled gathers fragmented stories into a work of remembrance that honors the past while illuminating its living legacy.
