Short Description A handcrafted ceramic surface composed of elongated modular elements arranged into a rhythmic architectural field. Variations in clay, glaze and tone combine to create a layered composition of mineral colour, texture and controlled material behaviour. ⸻ Product Description Earth Rhythm Assembly (UMLPZ4) is a handcrafted ceramic surface produced by the VLVLK Team. Constructed from elongated ceramic modules, the surface operates as a rhythmic architectural field rather than a repeated decorative pattern. Individual pieces combine tones ranging from bone and mineral white through warm clay, charcoal, oxide and deep black accents, creating a composition that feels both structured and naturally evolved. The installation draws its character from the interaction between repetition and variation. Linear elements establish order and direction, while shifts in colour, glaze response and material behaviour introduce depth and visual complexity across the field. At close range, individual modules reveal subtle surface variation and ceramic character. At architectural scale, the field reads as a cohesive composition of layered rhythm, texture and chromatic balance. Suitable for residential, hospitality and commercial environments where a materially expressive architectural surface is desired. ⸻ Surface Classification Host Wall Floor Wet Area Pond Pool System Linear Profile System Primary Field Read Linear Field Read Secondary Field Read Aggregate Field Read Primary Chroma Earth / Bone / Charcoal Surface Character Architectural Rhythmic Layered Material-Led Material Behaviour Tonal drift Glaze interruption Mineral variation Surface density variation Controlled field variability ⸻ Specification Code: UMLPZ4-WS Artist: VLVLK Team Designer: VLVLK Team Unit: 1 m² Sold: Per square metre Approximate Tile Size: L(142–148) × W(48–50) × H(6–11) mm Coverage: 141 pieces per m² Weight: Approx. 20.304 kg per m² Colour Detail: Variegated Earth Blend Decorative Process: Curated Multi-Glaze Blend Applications Interior walls Floors Wet areas Ponds Pools Decorative architectural surfaces Can be Used in Multi-Part Assembly: TBC Can be Bulked With: TBC ⸻ Installation This surface has been curated to honour the individuality of each piece. Please refer to the installation images provided to guide orientation, tonal distribution and overall composition. These reference layouts communicate the intended balance of rhythm, variation and material expression developed by the studio. ⸻ Product Note You will receive the same or a closely related blend to the images shown. As part of the Wabi-Sabi Edition, each production batch retains controlled variation and may be further customised through bespoke colour, blend and field curation upon request. ⸻ Availability OTR (Off-the-Rack) Stock Availability depends on the component with the lowest available stock quantity. Custom and bespoke enquiries based on this field are welcomed. ⸻ Visualisation Note Project visualisations may include digitally generated environments used to explore spatial possibilities. While the surrounding setting may be conceptual, the ceramic surface itself is an authentic VLVLK material system designed and produced within our studio. These visualisations are intended to assist with understanding potential interactions between material, light and architecture. They should be interpreted as exploratory studies rather than fixed installation specifications. Final outcomes are influenced by project-specific curation, layout decisions, lighting conditions and installation context. ⸻ Wabi-Sabi Edition This surface belongs to the VLVLK Wabi-Sabi Edition. The edition embraces controlled variation as an essential component of ceramic authorship. Rather than pursuing industrial uniformity, it celebrates the nuanced differences that emerge through material behaviour, glazing and firing. Pieces may exhibit: • Tonal variation • Surface movement and glaze drift • Crazing patterns • Subtle dimensional variation • Minor bowing or deformation • Irregular shade transitions • Authored variation across the field These characteristics contribute to the visual depth, individuality and architectural presence of the installed surface. ⸻ Light & Shadow The interaction between glaze, texture and changing light conditions forms an important part of the field experience. Natural and artificial light reveal different aspects of the surface throughout the day, enhancing tonal depth, material richness and spatial atmosphere. As illumination changes, the field continues to evolve, rewarding both close inspection and architectural-scale viewing. ⸻ Controlled Variability Each piece is individually influenced by clay body, glaze selection and firing behaviour. Variations in tone, density, surface character and material response are expected and form part of the intended field condition. These variations should be interpreted as authored characteristics of the work rather than manufacturing defects.
