When applied, the ointment uses osmotic action to draw fluid into the wound area, helping maintain a moist environment that supports natural healing. It also assists wound bed preparation by helping soften necrotic and devitalised tissue while supporting epithelial cell migration. The ointment gradually dilutes during use and can be removed in accordance with standard wound-cleansing protocols. It also creates a protective interface between the wound and secondary dressing, helping reduce the risk of the dressing adhering to the wound bed. L-Mesitran Honey Wound Ointment can be applied directly to the wound or onto a sterile gauze dressing before application. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing selected according to the wound type and level of exudate.
