This reiwa nibushiki kimono is made of a vintage silk kimono A Nibushiki Kimono (two-piece kimono) consists of separate upper and lower garments. It is believed to have become popular in the 1980s when staff at traditional Japanese hot spring inns (onsen) began wearing this practical style. The two-piece kimono was also introduced as a modern approach to kimono in Japanese sewing guides published in the 1970s. Together with our skilled sewing team, we are reimagining this traditional design through upcycling, giving vintage kimono fabrics a new life while preserving their beauty and craftsmanship. This products sewing team designer: Master Kimono Dressmaker (Ikkyū Wasaishi / 一級和裁士), based in Yamagata, Japan This is a one-of-a-kind piece created I carefully handpicked this kimono piece, which is in very good condition for a vintage garment.
*Original kimono : Modern [Condition] Very Good The obi belt was crafted from the collar fabric of a different vintage kimono. As a result, although both fabrics are black, the shade of the obi differs slightly from that of the skirt. Because the fabric was carefully unstitched and repurposed during the upcycling process, there are some minor stitch marks and traces from its previous construction. Please refer to the photos for details. We hope you will appreciate these characteristics as part of the unique history and charm of an authentic upcycled piece. *This products will be sent for professional kimono cleaning after purchase.

In the old days, only a few people of high status were allowed to have KAMON, but during the Meiji era (1868–1912), ordinary people were also permitted to use them. This haori family crest is called 「九曜紋(くようもん / Kuyōmon)」. Kuyōmon is a traditional Japanese family crest featuring nine circular forms representing the sun, moon, and seven stars. Rooted in ancient Buddhist and celestial symbolism, the motif has long been associated with protection, harmony, and spiritual power. 〈About the Gold Decoration〉 This product is a skirt remade from a vintage black tomesode kimono. Various gold decoration techniques were used at the time, and due to the nature of vintage textiles, it is not possible to identify the original techniques or materials. When storing the garment, please avoid overlapping the gold-decorated areas or leaving them in prolonged contact with other fabrics. There is a possibility that the gold decoration may stick or peel over time. 〈About the Hiyoku Lining Removal〉 This skirt has been upcycled from a vintage black tomesode kimono. The hiyoku — a ceremonial inner lining panel traditionally sewn inside formal kimono — has been removed during the upcycling process. As a result, faint stitch marks may remain along the interior seams. Please note that each garment is professionally dry cleaned before shipment, which may minimize the visibility of these marks. However, as this is an inherent characteristic of the upcycling process, minor stitch traces may still be present upon arrival. We appreciate your understanding that this is part of what makes each piece a one-of-a-kind work.
