Originally designed for use on a kang platform, this circa-1900 Chinese elm low table translates beautifully as a generous coffee or cocktail table. Its broad recessed-panel top is framed by an elongated apron with rounded openwork motifs on all four sides.The shaped apron flows into four substantial legs ending in bold inward-scrolling feet, giving the grounded form a distinctly sculptural profile. Warm brown wood and restrained ornament allow the 13.5-inch-high table to sit comfortably in traditional, collected or contemporary interiors.
