An XCGP235FD housing takes an XCGP235E element. An XCHE1077FD housing takes an XCHE1077E. This is the coalescing element that delivers instrument-quality air downstream of a dryer. Grade AC activated carbon and Grade DP dust elements are supplied for the matching housings but are not published on the current Champion element price list. Call us with the housing model and we will quote them from the factory.When to Change the ElementChange the element annually, or when the housing's dual indicator shows differential pressure has risen roughly 5 PSID over its clean reading, whichever happens first. Two things go wrong when you stretch the interval. First, pressure drop costs money continuously: every PSID of avoidable restriction burns roughly half a percent of the compressor's power, every hour it runs. Second, a coalescing element that has been saturated past its capacity stops coalescing and starts re-entraining, so the oil it collected leaves in the air stream and lands in whatever is downstream.Keep one spare element per housing on the shelf. An element is cheap next to an unplanned shutdown, and these are not parts a local supply house stocks.Installation Notes Isolate and fully depressurize the housing. Verify zero pressure at the drain before you touch the bowl. Unthread the bowl, remove the spent element, and wipe the sealing surfaces clean. Inspect the bowl O-ring. Replace it if it is flattened, nicked or hardened. Fit the new element hand tight. Do not lubricate the media end caps with anything other than clean compressed air system oil. Re-thread the bowl, repressurize slowly, and confirm the drain is functioning. Note the clean differential pressure reading so the next change interval has a baseline. Understand what you are buying: the HE element has a higher clean pressure drop and a shorter life when it is taking the bulk contaminant load that a GP element should have caught first. The right answer is usually two housings in series rather than one over-specified element.Are aftermarket elements a problem?The risk is not the media, it is the seal and the collapse rating. An element that bypasses at the end cap filters nothing while reading a perfectly healthy pressure drop, and one that collapses sends its own media downstream. We sell the factory part.Do these fit CFL Series housings?No. The CFL Series uses its own CF-prefix elements.
