Skill Builder Friday 28th August 2pm-4pm: 'Raw-Edge Appliqué'
New: Skill Builder workshops are bite-sized workshops where you can make something cute out of fabric scraps AND learn a useful sewing skill. On this one I'll show you how to do raw-edge appliqué. Appliqué is a great way of jazzing up things you already own as well as adding decorative flair to something you've made. You can also use it as a visible mending technique. Raw-edge appliqué requires learning to use a darning foot to do free-motion embroidery, so this a great little starter for those who are interested in that. We'll use scraps of fabric from the shop so you don't need to bring or buy anything. The session takes place on Friday 28th August 2pm-4pm in my little workshop 'Making Space' in central Ulverston at Catkin & Scraps. All materials are included, though you are welcome to bring your own scraps if you'd like. The group is loosely tutored - which means I will be showing you how to do things and helping you, but also running the shop and serving customers, so there may be some waiting here and there. Basic sewing supplies are available to use but feel free to bring your own if you have them to avoid waiting to use common items such as fabric scissors etc. There are only three spaces available so it's wise to book ahead to secure your place, which you can do via this listing or in person at the Ulverston shop. Once booked, if you change your mind or circumstances mean that you can no longer come, please let us know as soon as possible. Cancellations less than a full day ahead and no-shows will not be refunded. The workshop is fairly accessible, but if you have any special requirements as far as access or seating goes please do get in touch and we'll see what we can do.
