Add a striking statement to your home with this genuine, one-of-a-kind vintage Moroccan runner rug! Hand-knotted by a woman weaver in the Haouz plains around Marrakech, this rug is a true piece of tribal art -originally crafted for private family use, not for the mass market. It shows typical features of the Rehamna or Boujaad style: a large runner shape and a rich palette dominated by soft red and terracotta contrasted with black, geometric motifs. The rug displays a typical asymmetrical composition crafted through the free expression of the lady weaver. It features unregular diamond shapes (symbolizing protection) and checkerboard accents along the lower border. The rug is woven from natural sheep wool over a cotton base. Low pile, which makes it easy to vacuum. Finished with fringes on one end, which is characteristic of traditional tribal looms. Pictures were taken in my bright and all white studio in Marrakech.
