Description Score: 98 pts - James Suckling | 93 pts - Vinous Chacra Cincuenta y Cinco Pinot Noir 2019 is the most tense and finely drawn of Bodega Chacra's single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, made from vines planted in 1955 that rest on a sea of riverbed pebbles in Mainqué, in Patagonia's Río Negro Valley. Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, grandson of the founder of Tenuta San Guido, home of Sassicaia, farms the estate organically and biodynamically and ferments this wine with whole clusters at very low temperatures to bring out its floral side. It is made naturally, bottled unfiltered, and raised half in concrete and half in used French oak. "Pure and floral, with crushed bilberry, cherry and dried strawberry joined by hints of smoke, game and a briny, iodine-like touch. Taut and refined yet easy to drink, it shows fine tension and a long, mineral finish."
