Theo Waimea glasses
Theo is an independent Belgian eyewear brand created by opticians Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet, with its first collection presented in 1989. The idea was simple: they were tired of the conventional frames available at the time and wanted to make something genuinely different. That attitude has stayed with Theo ever since. The brand became known for unusual shapes, strong colours, clever constructions and a sense of humour that sets its frames apart from more traditional eyewear. Designed in Antwerp and produced in specialist European workshops, Theo has always treated glasses as objects of design rather than simply accessories. Over the years the brand has also worked with outside designers and young creative talent, helping keep the collections experimental and unpredictable. Vintage Theo pieces are especially interesting because many of them capture the more radical side of European eyewear design from the 1990s and early 2000s. This Theo Waimea frame comes from the Rock Formations collection, inspired by dramatic geological landscapes shaped by wind and water. Crafted from lightweight pure titanium, the frame features a bold geometric silhouette in deep brown, finished with a vivid coral-orange serrated upper edge that echoes the outline of eroded rock. The geological motif continues along the sculpted dark teal temple ends, while adjustable nose pads ensure a comfortable fit. An unworn original frame fitted with demonstration lenses, ready to be replaced with prescription or tinted lenses.
