Large French Vintage Stoneware Mixing Bowl with Pouring Spout 15.4"

A beautiful large French vintage stoneware mixing bowl, with a creamy white glazed interior, warm caramel-coloured rim and natural grey-beige exterior. Its generous proportions and simple, functional design are characteristic of traditional French country kitchen pottery. Dating most likely to the early to mid-20th century, this substantial bowl was originally made for everyday kitchen use, with a deep, gently tapering form and a small pouring spout. The broad glazed rim features an impressed number 13, believed to indicate its original size. The contrast between the smooth cream interior, honey-coloured glazed band and wonderfully textured, unglazed exterior gives the bowl a particularly attractive appearance. Subtle variations in the stoneware and traces of its working past add character to the piece. At 39 cm wide, it makes a lovely decorative centrepiece for a farmhouse kitchen or dining table, whether displayed on its own or filled with seasonal fruit. Its neutral tones also make it an excellent addition to French country, rustic and contemporary interiors.
