Kintsugi Workshop : October 11

Join us for a rare opportunity to study kintsugi with Ms. Wajima of LITA Inc., visiting Los Angeles from Japan. Meaning “golden repair,” kintsugi is the centuries-old Japanese art of mending broken ceramics with lacquer and gold. Rather than disguising cracks, the practice illuminates them, giving damaged objects new life while honoring their history. Rooted in the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, kintsugi invites us to find beauty in imperfection and change. During this intimate, hands-on workshop, Ms. Wajima will guide you through the process of repairing a provided piece of Kiyomizu ware. You’ll leave with your finished ceramic and a kintsugi kit of your own, so you can continue the practice at home.
