This design optimizes the optical positioning of the Outex port so that it becomes one with the lens in use — just like a filter or polarizer. It moves with the lens, so it’s always in the best optical position for image capture, eliminates vignetting, and lets you focus on content creation rather than equipment. Like your camera and lens system, the Outex housing is modular and made up of interchangeable, compatible parts. All ports, including domes, are interchangeable and fit all covers. We support all industry-standard sizes from 49 to 105mm in diameter. The front lens filter thread size is different from your focal length or zoom range. The Outex front glass port threads onto your lens just like a UV filter or polarizer. You can purchase additional front ports at any time from our Parts page. The filter thread size usually matches your lens cap size in millimetres, and it’s usually printed on your lens (front or side) or on the lens cap with the symbol “∅” — for example, ∅77. Step-up rings: if your lens filter thread is smaller than 49mm (e.g. 37mm or 46mm), a standard step-up ring adapts it to any Outex industry-standard port size (49mm and above). Outex ports use universal filter thread standards, so any quality step-up ring works. Simply select the outer (larger) thread size of your step-up ring when choosing your port at checkout.
