Sarracenia 'Alan Hindle'
Sarracenia 'Alan Hindle' is a hybrid between 'Rita Soper' and the well-known × moorei 'Leah Wilkerson'. It was created by Matt Soper of Hampshire Carnivorous Plants and named after British carnivorous plant grower Alan Hindle. Its parentage brings together several Sarracenia species, but the strong Sarracenia leucophylla influence is immediately apparent in the mature pitchers. The pitchers are tall and slender, starting green to yellow-green at the base before developing much heavier patterning towards the top. Fine red veins run vertically along the lower tube and become increasingly dense as they approach the mouth. Pale areoles begin to appear through the upper pitcher, creating a gradual transition into the much whiter lid. The large, floppy lid is the main feature of 'Alan Hindle'. It becomes heavily infused with white, particularly on mature pitchers, with a fine network of red to burgundy veins running across the surface. The margins are gently waved and often develop a pink or red edge. Some pitchers become so heavily white-topped that only the main veins interrupt the pale background. Colour around the mouth varies as the traps mature. The upper tube can develop pink and burgundy tones between the pale areoles, while the inside carries stronger red veining. The lip itself remains relatively pale.
