Les Bains Guerbois 1900 L'Heure de Proust
Belle Époque Paris. Marcel Proust was a regular at Les Bains Guerbois, and 1900 L'Heure de Proust imagines him there with a close friend: steam bath, massage, then tea. It nods to the most famous scene he ever wrote, the madeleine dipped in tea that brings a whole lost world rushing back. Tangy fruit and citrus open it, with bergamot, pomelo and blueberry. Then the heart: a slightly smoky black tea, violet and a touch of Tuscan leather. It ends soft and comforting on gaiac wood, vanilla and a madeleine accord that smells like warm, buttery cake. Bright at first, nostalgic by the end. Eau de parfum by Jérôme Epinette (Byredo, Atelier Cologne) for the Une Date, Une Histoire collection.
