William Spratling Sterling Silver Necklace

Known throughout Mexico as the “Father of Mexican Jewelry” William Spratling originally began his career teaching architecture at Tulane University. While still quite young Spratling spent summers in Mexico and from then moved to Mexico. Spratling met Mexican luminaries in the art world and with the help of the configurations of the stars he began designing and manufacturing silver jewelry. By 1941 he had more than 100 employees and was selling to high end department stores in the United States.
