The PADI Open Water Diver course in Los Cancajos, La Palma. Three days in the water, the theory online at home, and a certificate valid worldwide for life. The Instructor Three students, never more. The centre trains dive instructors, so the people teaching you also teach the teachers. Maximum three students per instructor. Day 1 Skills in calm water. Breathing, mask clearing, buoyancy and what to do if something goes wrong. Shallow and patient, until it feels normal. Then your first open water dive. Day 2 And 3 Four dives, down to 18 metres. Three more open water dives on the reef, with the skills repeated in real conditions. Final check, and you are a certified diver. The Reef Twenty metre visibility on a good day. Parrotfish, pufferfish, trumpetfish, an octopus if you are lucky, and the blue drop off. Atlantic water, so no coral and no promised turtles. The Gear Everything included, eLearning too. Wetsuit, tank, regulator, jacket and computer are part of the course. The theory is online in your language, about 8 to 12 hours before you arrive. Good To Know Give the course some room in your stay. Sea conditions can move a dive to another day, and there is an 18 hour no fly rule after the last dive. From 10 years, and you need to be able to swim.
