Ancient Ghost

A medieval ghost with a the spirit of the deceased hovering with their shroud still covering them. Translucent and iridescent so that you get the eerie -oh no a pun - someone is there. Do you know where the basic sheet ghost came from? I started wondering why we just decided a white sheet with eyes meant "ghost" so I researched the history. In Europe (and many other places) corpses were wrapped in white winding sheets, or shrouds. Starting in the middle ages, ghosts started being depicted in art as wearing these white shrouds. Through time though, western culture forgot the reason for the sheet and it just became bedsheets. These are the perfect earrings to get into the spooky season and as a bonus, you can tell people the story of why ghosts wear bedsheets. A few details about these particular earrings: The earring bodies were laser cut and engraved from lightweight iridescent acrylic. The engraving is highlighted with gold.
