Layered x Tom Morris Ryg Bardsey Green

Bardsey, the little island beyond the Llŷn peninsula, lends its name to this rug in Ryg Bardsey Green. Cream lattice motifs and tiny chocolate squares are woven into a soft moss ground, and one fine red line runs through it, much as you might find on an old Welsh tapestry blanket. Graphic and homely at once.Imagine it in a snug with an open fire, stone walls and a tan leather armchair, the green echoing the hills outside. It holds its own in a big living room too. At 300 x 400 cm it gathers sofa and coffee table into one wide island of colour, while 250 x 350 cm and 200 x 300 cm suit more modest rooms. 180 x 270 cm fits a snug, 140 x 200 cm a bedside, and the 75 x 240 cm or 80 x 300 cm runner carries the pattern along a hallway or landing.Ryg is Tom Morris's take on the Welsh blanket, coloured after the North Wales coast and part of his CLOTH collection with Layered. Morris is a London interior architect and the name behind Morrisstudio. Each rug is woven by hand from 100% wool on a sunken pit loom, in Bhadohi, India, giving a dense, flat surface around 6 mm high. It suits underfloor heating. Handmade means slight variations in size and shade. Vacuum regularly with the beater bar off, allow for some shedding in the first weeks, and blot spills before they settle.
