Hosta Hanjas Ewa 5.25" Pot Well Rooted Perennial Shade Plant
Humble Hen Farm & Nursery Size: 11" H x 15" W Common Name: Hosta Hosta 'Hanjas Ewa' A deeply meaningful and exceptionally rare introduction from renowned Danish breeder Jan Hurup Hansen, this medium-to-small cultivar brings a touching story and vibrant light to shady woodland spaces. Named by Hansen to bring good fortune to a close friend battling illness, this precious European collector’s plant stands out for its intensely bright, cheerful yellow-gold foliage. Its lance-shaped leaves emerge with a striking luminosity and boast heavily undulating, wavy leaf margins that maximize texture and shimmer beautifully in dappled shade spots. In mid-summer, strong flower scapes rise gracefully just above the glowing gold foliage mound, bearing dense clusters of soft lavender flowers that create an elegant, airy contrast to the wavy, bright leaves below. Maturing to a compact and tidy 11 inches tall and spreading up to 15 inches wide (25-30 cm x 30-40 cm), its slow-growing and perfectly proportional mounding habit makes it an absolute treasure for shady rock gardens, foreground borders, or specimen patio containers. Exceptionally hardy in Zones 3–9, it delivers excellent sun tolerance for a yellow hosta, maintaining its crisp lines and brilliant coloration without scorching when exposed to morning sun. Pair this stunning cultivar with excellent companion plants from our collection, like the unique, dark foliage of Astilbe 'Dark Side of the Moon' or the brilliant structural fronds of the 'Brilliance' Autumn Fern to build a deeply layered, vibrant shade vignette. Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves. Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions. Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG.
