Antique 19thC Zanzibar Omani Teak & Brass Stud & Copper Clad Dowry Chest 1890

A very attractive antique 'Zanzibar' teak and brass stud work & copper overlay dowry chest, circa 1890. A fine quality antique Zanzibar dowry chest, the hinge lidded chest is profusely decorated with brass stud work and copper cladding in geometric designs. The chest has substantial brass carrying handles to the side, the lid with elegantly engraved strap hinges to the underside and a heavy brass locking hasp to the front. Inside is clean and aroma free storage area, with a lidded candle till to the left side. The front of the chest is also elegantly decorated with circular & triangular geometric brass stud work and copper cladding, with two panels containing large roundels to the center. The base is fitted with three drawers with stud-work and brass handles, the chest is raised on bracket feet with a shaped skirt. This very handsome antique chest is in excellent antique condition, it is very study and of substantial construction and is ready to grace your space.
