Fogo fátuo

In Fogo fátuo, Wilame Lima builds a nocturnal image from deep blue fields, a compressed horizon, and a concentrated vertical form that appears to gather and release light. Pale, copper, and muted violet passages remain partially embedded in the dark surface, allowing the image to hover between a distant scene and a material apparition. The small canvas intensifies this concentration: the painting offers little descriptive information, but holds the eye around the unstable relation between darkness, atmosphere, and luminosity. The work belongs to Lima’s Nocturnals series.
