Born in 1957 in Basra, Iraq, he studied at the Institute of Fine Arts and later earned a degree in sculpture from the College of Fine Arts in Baghdad. He built an established career in the Middle East, exhibiting widely and receiving recognition at regional exhibitions. After leaving Iraq, Hannoon spent time in Jordan before immigrating to Canada in 2009, eventually settling in Vancouver. His artistic style evolved in Canada to focus on the colour, movement, and atmosphere of cityscapes, blending abstraction with representation. His work is characterized by bold colours, simplified forms, and a strong sense of energy and optimism. Hannoon continues to exhibit internationally, and his art reflects both his early experiences in Iraq and his engagement with contemporary urban life in Canada.
