A beautifully crafted vintage Ercol Quaker rocking chair, Model 428, originally designed by Lucian Ercolani. This classic mid-century piece embodies the understated elegance and craftsmanship that define Ercol’s iconic British furniture. Constructed from solid elm and beech, the chair features a shaped elm seat paired with a finely turned beech frame. The distinctive high, arched spindle back is a refined evolution of the traditional Windsor design, while the gently curved armrests and steam-bent rockers provide both comfort and a graceful silhouette. This particular model is often referred to as a “small” or “ladies” rocking chair, with more compact proportions than standard rockers. Its neat scale makes it especially well suited to a nursery, bedroom or cosy reading corner, without compromising on comfort or presence.
