Dark Melanistic Leopard Gecko

A note about Black Night and other melanistic leopard gecko morphs: The appearance of these geckos can change considerably as they grow and mature. Many hatchlings start out very dark, then lighten somewhat during their juvenile stages before gradually developing their mature adult coloration. The intensity of the black coloration can also vary at different times due to factors such as temperature, stress, breeding condition, shedding cycles, and overall activity level. Because of this, a melanistic gecko may appear lighter or darker from day to day. While most Black Nights develop a darker overall appearance as they mature, some fluctuation in colour intensity is normal throughout their lives.
