Best known for his work in Split Lip and Chamberlain, Rubenstein spent years quietly accumulating songs while building a life devoted to writing, composing, and raising a family. A sudden move from New York City to Cincinnati finally brought those songs into focus, resulting in an album recorded in two distinct phases: the live-band immediacy of sessions in New York and the solitary reflection of a Cincinnati basement studio. Contributions from Vernon Reid, Chris Carrabba, and Richie Birkenhead add texture throughout, while longtime collaborator Derik Lee (Hamilton, Broadway, film) helped bring the album into focus.
