We're excited to share something we've been blessed to be a part of, and working together with our famers in real relationships to help them tell their story. This coffee is DIRECT TRADE, where we work in tandem with Undugu Farms to provide truly fair pricing and success for the farmers in Kenya. Everything is completely traceable back to the farm and transparent from where it came from. We also keep direct communication with our farmers to be able to give them the feedback and support they need to continue to grow their crops. So we hope you can enjoy this coffee as it is special to us beyond just the taste, but supporting a community of people in Kenya who are continuing to flourish in the work they do. About the Farm: Before the Rhino coffee farms ever existed, a camp site in 1984, Lake Nakuru National Park was chosen for the restoration project of "Black Rhino". The project brought various programs of awareness with local, national, and even international participation. Because some people would camp at the farm and do events for a fee, and that brought attraction to the land. Rhino Coffee Farms slowly came into existence then. In 2022, they adopted the name Rhino in respect to the efforts of the Black Rhino restoration, which was one of the things that brought revenue to the Kenyan economy with tourism. About the Farmer: Jacob Kibiri brings a scientific mindset to farming, applying measurement and experimentation to produce reliable, high-quality Batian lots. Trained in applied science, Jacob treats his farm like a field laboratory. He monitors soil health, yield patterns, and processing variables with rigor, adjusting practices based on data rather than intuition alone. His openness to testing new methods makes him a valuable thought partner for Undugu as we evaluate innovations across partner farms. Jacob’s methodical approach brings consistency to Batian--a variety known for vigor but variable expression--resulting in clean cups with structure and clarity.
