This is a reproduction print of an original watercolor of Our Lady of Pontmain, from the Marian Minis collection. The collection was created as part of an art challenge to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in the month of May. Marian Minis are only available in 5"x7" prints. Our Lady of Pontmain is a lesser known apparition of Mary, but still a beautiful and powerful story. On January 17, 1871, the Virgin Mary appeared to children in Pontmain, France. They described a tall and beautiful lady, in a blue dress covered with golden stars. At the time, most of France was occupied by the Prussians, and devastated by the Franco-Prussian War. The Prussians were quickly advancing toward Pontmain. As Our Lady appeared to the children, a written message appeared at her feet - the message that God would soon answer their prayers. Soon after, Prussia mysteriously withdrew their troops, an armistice was signed, and the war was over. Read More at The Catholic Travel Guide.
