Lavastone Low-Pile Catherin Red/Blue Wool Rug - 9'1'' x 13'3''

A large dark blue medallion sits at the center of a red field that is densely covered with fine floral detail, inside a blue border. The bold medallions give the floor a strong, balanced rhythm. This 9x13 Lavastone area rug comes in red and blue. This one-of-a-kind, handmade wool rug is hand knotted from durable, hand-spun wool. It is a vintage rug that has never been used. To give it the look of an antique, the pile was rubbed down by hand with lava stone, again and again, until it was low and gently worn. That is where the name Lavastone comes from, and it is why the red field and the blue border look softened, with tan in the details. You may notice an abrash in the red field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. Together with the artisan-tied knots and the small irregularities of handmade work, it gives the rug its own personality. The medallions keep their shape while their edges are gently softened. The low pile makes a smooth, refined surface that sits flat under doors and furniture and stands up well in high-traffic rooms, and its worn-in texture hides everyday footprints. It holds a full living room seating group, a dining table for six to eight, or a spacious primary bedroom. The warm, faded red and blue palette suits bohemian, rustic modern, and traditional rooms, and it pairs well with leather, walnut, and aged brass. The lava stone finish adds antique-style character without the wear of a rug that has actually been walked on for decades.
