Know before you go This is a self-carried, multi-sport Patagonia expedition This is not a classic lodge-based trek or a day-hiking holiday. For eight consecutive days on the Torres del Paine O Trek, you’ll carry your personal equipment, sleeping system, and a share of food and group gear. Expect long days on mountainous terrain, a loaded pack, significant elevation gain and loss, exposed sections, and Patagonia’s famously changeable weather. The O Trek takes us over John Gardner Pass, beside Grey Glacier, through the French Valley, and around the quieter northern side of the Paine Massif. After the trek, we reset in Puerto Natales before switching into dry suits and packrafts for the second half of the expedition. The fjord section is guided alongside an experienced local paddling partner and is planned around the weather, wind, and conditions on the water. This trip requires excellent endurance, good balance, and previous multi-day backpacking experience. You do not need previous packrafting experience, but you should be comfortable spending long days outdoors, helping with camp life, and adapting to changing conditions as a team. If you are excited by big mountain days, heavy packs, wild camps, wind in your face, and a Patagonia trip that goes beyond the usual route, you’ll probably love this one. Over 14 days, we experience Patagonia from both land and water: hiking the complete Torres del Paine O Trek, then heading into remote glacial fjords by packraft. This is a two-part expedition through one of the world’s great mountain landscapes. We begin in Puerto Natales, get the team and equipment dialled, then head into Torres del Paine for the full circuit around the Paine Massif. The O Trek takes us through Patagonia properly. We travel first through the quieter northern side of the park before reconnecting with the famous W route: John Gardner Pass, Grey Glacier, the French Valley, and the Towers all included. For 8 days, we carry what we need on our backs, camp in the mountains, share group gear, and move through forest, open valleys, high passes, and glacier-carved terrain. It is physical, weather-dependent, and exactly how this landscape is meant to be travelled. After a recovery day in Puerto Natales, the second chapter begins. We trade hiking boots for dry suits and paddles, then head into Patagonia’s fjords with our experienced local paddling partner. Packrafts let us move through the landscape from an entirely different angle: across glacial waterways, between mountains, and toward isolated shorelines that few visitors ever reach. The exact route stays flexible so the guide team can choose the safest and most rewarding option for the conditions. Throughout the expedition, we keep the group small—just 8 guests—so the experience stays personal, adaptable, and properly team-based. This is not about racing through a bucket-list itinerary. It is about carrying your own load, earning the big views, and travelling through Patagonia with a good crew. Two weeks. One full O Trek. A packraft finale. Patagonia, properly.
