Umbigo is a well-established contemporary arts and culture journal from Portugal. What grabbed us about this issue.... This issue turns its attention to the changing role of museums. As they continue to face challenges with funding and space, alternative proposals are emerging. Venues are becoming more experimental and communities are being given the chance to build their own cultural platforms. We were drawn to the Museu Experimenta Paisagem, an outdoor project creating a museum without walls, with artworks and installations placed across the landscape, each connected to the geography and history of the area.
