Thrace, Moesia, Istros Silver AR Drachm 2 Heads 4th Century B.C - 5.72g ~18mm

This ancient silver drachm from Istros, a Greek colony on the Black Sea coast in the region of Thrace/Moesia, was struck in the 4th century B.C. and features the distinctive two-facing-heads design that makes Istros coinage immediately recognizable among ancient Greek issues. Weighing 5.72 grams and measuring approximately 18mm, this drachm reflects the trading networks that connected Greek colonial cities along the Black Sea to the broader Hellenic world. Istros drachms are prized by ancient coin collectors for their unusual and artistically striking obverse design, unlike anything found in mainland Greek coinage of the period. A fascinating and affordable entry point into Greek colonial numismatics.
