Late Period Wooden Panel Fragment featuring Imentet

Origin: Egypt Circa: Late Period, 664 BC to 332 BC Dimensions: 29" Height x 14" Width (73.8 cm x 35.6 cm) Medium: Wood This well preserved panel fragment comes from either the interior lid or the back side of a wooden sarcophagus. It features a finely painted figure of Imentet, Goddess of the West, facing right with her arms held by her sides, wearing a long beaded dress. She is adorned with an Usekh collar, a tripartite wig with diadem, and a high crown surmounted by the Horus Falcon and the ostrich plume of Maat. Her elegant face is drawn with a large eye, long eyebrow, and sharp cosmetic lines.
