'Lost in Sound' is one of his earlier titles, and his only record for the Charlie Parker label. It was recorded in New York - August 14, 1961 - 65 years ago. Lateef focuses solely on tenor saxophone here as he moved away from hard-bop toward more exploratory horizons. The sides feature a lesser-known but remarkably cohesive quintet: Vincent Pitts (trumpet), John Harman (piano), Ray McKinny (bass), and Clifford Jarvis or George Scott (drums).
