Wonder Block Thru Wand by Limited Edition Magic

This effect was originally created by Rebru c. 1990 and called Cube Through Wand. Rebru’s real name was Renso Bruintjes (1924-2006) and he was a Dutch magician, inventor and clown. Rebru’s original version used an 8″ cube and you can see a performance of the effect here and photos of it as the last two images thanks to Brotherbor on YouTube. For over twenty years Joe Long has worked with the talented craftsman Paul Lembo to bring us an incredible array of amazing magic that would otherwise be left forgotten on the shelves of just a handful of hard-core collectors worldwide. When this item arrived on my desk I was very intrigued and although it often takes me months to get items on my site, this one I fast tracked because I think it is one of the most amazing penetration effects I have ever seen. If you watch the video there is really no explanation to how this is possible. And even better when you see how it is done you’ll be more than happy. This is one of those effects whose method is as good as the effect itself. There were only 15 of these made so if you can track one down you should because it is an amazing effect. _EF (Description by Joe Long) A wonderful version of a very rare block penetration that features a unique method. The drawbacks to the original apparatus were some elements of the design and the fact that the block (decorated like a die in metallic sparkle finish) was extremely large. At 8″ square, it wasn’t the easiest piece to handle. This new edition uses a block 4″ square and has a few improvements over the original which will be revealed in the accompanying PDF instructions. The effect is a real fooler. Even for magicians. Basically, a decorative cabinet is displayed. It consists of a thin box with doors that fold down on the front and back. The cabinet rests on a thin raised platform with two side rests that help support a magic wand. The doors of the cabinet are opened to reveal a gold wooden block with a magic wand running through holes in the sides. The block and wand are lifted from the cabinet. The wand removed from the block and everything is shown freely. The block may be banged on the table or tapped on all sides with the wand. Now the wand is placed back onto the supports in the cabinet. It clearly runs the length of the box. Two elastic bands are used to secure the wand in place so it can’t move. The front and back doors of the cabinet are closed. The gold block is shown again and placed into the cabinet where it rests on the wand, which is blocking its’ way. The ends of the wand are always visible. Suddenly, the performer pushes down on the solid block and it magically melts through the wand! The front and back doors of the cabinet are opened immediately. The gold block fills the interior. The elastic bands are removed from the wand and the block with wand once again running through the center is lifted from the cabinet….the wand removed from the block and all shown freely. It’s an amazing penetration. The method is ingenious. The work is unlike any block penetration offered before.
