Bobbin Milking Stool - Green Oak

A bobbin milking stool with three turned legs. Our milking stool features large turned Bobbin legs made from solid oak connected by tapered oak struts. A substantial round top carries our distinctive bullnose edge detail. This complements the rounded nature of the legs and provides an overall softness to the piece. Traditional wedged tenon joints are used to fix the legs to the seat. The joints continue through the thickness of the seat and are visible from above. This provides a lovely aesthetic detail and makes it wonderfully sturdy. The origins of three-legged furniture were first employed as a solution to prevent wobbling on uneven floors particularly in rural settings. This led to the charming tripod design. Today, we see this piece being used in a variety of spaces. A handy stool, to move around your house as needs be, a table beside a chair, free standing bath or bed. The Bobbin Milking Stool has a simple elegance that is both tactile, versatile and long-lasting. Hand-crafted in our Sussex workshop. Available in five of our oak finishes.
