There really is nothing like waking up early at or near treeline where you can get up and have a clear view of the world around you as the sun illuminates the landscape. This was a scene beheld just outside Lakes of the Clouds Hut on Mount Washington in the White Mountains one clear summer morning. Watching the shadows slowly sink into the valleys and the fog burn off was a truly mesmerizing experience. Bird song floated up from the forest below and the sky above glowed with the last tinges of sunrise color.
