st(ART) business: A Workshop Facilitated by Omari Booker
st(ART) business: A Workshop Facilitated by Omari Booker Location: Gallery 56 Date: May 7th Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM Tickets: $50 When I found that the only way that I would have the time to create daily was to monetize my practice, I built an art business. st(ART) business focuses on the intersection of art and business. In a personalized, step-by-step workshop, we will highlight how to turn your creative practice into a profitable business. I’ll walk you through my personal experience of transitioning from traditional employment to creative entrepreneurship. Creatives who are not interested in being a “full time” creative are welcome, and can benefit from this workshop. In this 90-minute session, you’ll create a plan to achieve your goals. We will focus on pricing, tax benefits, exhibition opportunities, and growing your audience. You will receive the information for an affordable tax specialist, a list of deductions for creatives, and a resource guide for application opportunities. This workshop is designed for beginning, emerging, and experienced artists who need guidance in the business aspects of their practice. Why do you create? Answering that question will lead to creating consistently. I didn’t start making art for business purposes. I wanted to make art as often as I could because of how I felt while creating. Starting an art business allowed me the space to create consistently. Creating consistently has made the business sustainable.
