Pewter Wall Mount Candle Holder

Everyone knows Norwegians love candlelight! Maybe it’s because of those dark winter nights that you see candles everywhere in Norway. Read more about Norwegian “koselig” here. This is a wall mounted wood and pewter candle holder. It’s from the 1970’s and made by Eik Tinn and designed by Astri Holthe. No longer in production, this is a collectible item. It features Norwegian folk themes; the violin, folk dancing, weaving, farming and and milking a goat! Astri Holthe (1917-1998) was a Norwegian gold and silversmith. She owned the factory A. Holthe A/S together with her husband Gerhard Holthe. The factory produced jewellery, cups, candlesticks, vases and plates etc. The company was situated in the Barbu valley near the Norwegian town of Arendal in south Norway. It can fit a regular taper candle no wider than 7/8″. The candleholder is just under 11″ tall and 2.5″ at its widest. It weighs 7.5oz. It’s in great shape for over 50 years old with no dents or scratches we can see. There’s a little wear on the pewter, but that’s to be expected on something this old. It’s absolutely gorgeous with a lit candle in it!
